How to apply
About our grant program
Grantmaking process
Syla Foundation operates under a 12-month fiscal year, ending on June 30th. We currently host one grant cycle per year, with invitations to apply issued in January. All grant requests must be submitted electronically, via our online grants management system, by March 15th to allow time for review. Funding decisions are communicated by mid-June, with approved funding sent by June 15th, unless otherwise communicated.
While final applications are by invitation only, inquiries are welcome on an ongoing basis. We encourage you to read about our vision, mission, values, and impact areas to learn more about how we aspire to make an impact in our communities. If you're interested in funding and believe there is a strong alignment between your organization's work and our impact areas, please click the link below to fill out a letter of inquiry.

Letters of inquiry
Syla Foundation uses an online grant system that is reviewed by the Board to determine interest. Click the button and you'll be transferred to the grant management system interface, where you can create a profile to fill out a letter of inquiry.
*Please note, during our grant cycle period (January-June), response time may be delayed. No invitations are sent to new organizations once the grant cycle has opened for the year.

Guidelines and Restrictions
-
Syla Foundation® supports 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. The Foundation is willing to consider unrestricted funding, program support, and capital requests; applicants are encouraged to consult with a representative of the Foundation on the type, size, and scope of a request prior to applying.
-
Grants are typically awarded for single years, except in certain circumstances where a multi-year grant may be warranted. A renewal request must be submitted for consideration and will be renewed based on review of the previous years' progress and results, including statement of financial position and statement of income/expenses.
-
Initial grants are not necessarily reflective of future years' approvals or grant amounts.
-
No grants are awarded to individuals or to political causes.
